What's the catch?

There is no catch. Power One Realty does not have hidden fees or up-front costs. We live up to our promise of providing the same full service as a traditional brokerage with less commission.

What am I not receiving at 1%?

Power One Realty actually provides more than most traditional brokerages. We have professional photographs taken of your home to use in marketing, and create a customized marketing plan to get your home in front of as many buyers as possible. We also provide high-quality flyers, yard signage and a broker lockbox.

Why do you only charge 1%?

We feel that a 1% commission is a fair price, and we know that many consumers have become fed up with paying 6% commissions to sell their homes. We also know that nothing changes unless agents and brokerages are willing to do something different. Especially with the economy over the last several years, many homeowners have lost significant equity in their home and it can be hard to justify paying anything more.

Why do other brokerages charge 6%?

Most brokerages were created based on the full 6% commission model. They also have large, expensive office space and high overhead. We reduce overhead and skip techniques that are proven ineffective and costly, such as newspaper advertising.

How much commission should the buyer's broker receive?

At Power One Realty, we recommend offering a 2.5% commission to the buyer's broker, rather than the typical 3%. This brings the total commission you pay to sell your home to 3.5% (1% goes to Power One Realty and 2.5% goes to the buyer's broker). While you are free to offer a higher percentage to the buyer's broker as incentive, this is generally unnecessary.

Will you just list my home in the MLS?

No! We are not a discount brokerage that does the bare minimum. We provide a full range of services and work with you every step of the way. This includes having professional photographs taken of your home to use in marketing, holding open houses and agent open houses, representing you in interactions with buyers and their agents, fielding calls from buyers interested in your home and negotiating to get you the best price possible for your home.

Will any other brokers show my home?

Yes. It is true that other brokers may not appreciate our pricing, but the amount of commission provided to the buyer's broker is no lower than other listings in the MLS. Buyers are also the ones who choose which homes they want to view; most buyers research online and contact their broker to view the homes that catch their interest.

Do you hold open houses?

Yes. We generally hold a broker's open house on the first Tuesday after your home is listed and open houses as agreed in the contract between the seller and the broker.

Where will my home be advertised?

We will pay to advertise your home on hundreds of popular websites. It will also appear on local real estate websites that allow a "home search" option. Websites on which your home will appear include Realtor.com, Trulia, Craigslist and Zillow. This is where buyers are searching for homes.

Do you also work with buyers?

Yes, we do. Our brokers have years of experience working with all types of buyers, including first-time buyers.
